Welcome, friends.
This is a place where we dig deep to tell the truer, more interesting stories.
This is a place where we move towards healing and wholeness. Where we do the hard work of expressing what we believe and what we know with integrity and grit. Where we have the audacity to pull apart more fully the stories we tell ourselves.
We all tell stories—stories about ourselves, the ones we love, the ones we tend to “other”, the God we may or may not believe in, and the world. Which stories are true? Which ones hold up when we press on them, hard? Which ones need to be untangled with a fine-tooth comb? Which ones must be thrown out completely?
Some of you may be asking: Why wade through the weeds to tell others vulnerable, personal stories? What is the point? Why put grief and trauma and healing and love into the world for others to see?
What I always come back to is this: It is always worth it to show even one person what it is to be seen and understood and safe. It is always worth it to offer up our own stories as a token of compassion and healing. It is always worth it to help someone feel a little more free.
And often, in doing so, telling the truth frees the one who teller, too.
I hope you feel resonance, here. I hope you find comfort through the stories you read. And I hope you feel empowered to tell your own truer, more interesting stories, too.
I’m so glad you’re here.
About Me
My name is Krista Drechsel, and I have always been a writer.
When I was a kid, I either had my nose in a book or a pencil in my hand, scribbling thoughts and stories.
In my mid-twenties, I re-discovered how much I had always loved words. How they hold the power to help us feel safe and seen and held. How they help us come home to ourselves.
I’ve been writing as often as I can, ever since.
My husband Joe and I have two girls together and live in Minneapolis, MN. We truly love it here. (Yes, even in the winter—except when our minivan gets stuck in three feet of unplowed snow for the third time in a week. But other than that, it’s great.)
Some quick things you might like to know about me: I love popcorn, 90’s sitcoms, memoirs, the MN North Shore, vintage jeans, coffee, striped t-shirts, roadtrips, and BLTs. I am an Enneagram 1, a deep feeler, and an introvert who can sometimes pull off pretending to be an extrovert. I love being outside any time of the year, but especially when it’s warm enough to hike, canoe, and swim. I am a voracious reader and often have piles of books overflowing onto our bedroom floor. I’m always down for a deep conversation.
