Hey, there!
My name is Krista. My husband Joe and I have two girls together and live in Minneapolis, MN. We truly love it here. (Yes, even in the winter—except when our minivan gets stuck in three feet of unplowed snow for the third time in a week. But other than that, it’s great.)
Some quick things you might like to know about me: I love popcorn, 90’s sitcoms, memoirs, the MN North Shore, vintage jeans, coffee, striped t-shirts, roadtrips, and BLTs. I am an Enneagram 1, an HSP, and a staunch introvert. I love being outside any time of the year, but especially when it’s warm enough to hike, canoe, and swim. I am addicted to books and I have piles overflowing onto our bedroom floor, much to my husband’s chagrin. I’m always down for a deep conversation.
I write because it’s how I move towards healing and wholeness. I write because it is the only way I can know and express, with any real integrity, what I believe. I write because I need to understand and pull apart more fully the stories I tell myself.
We all tell ourselves stories—stories about ourselves, the ones we love, the ones we tend to “other”, the God we may or may not believe in, and the world. Which stories are true? Which ones hold up when we press on them, hard? Which ones need to be untangled with a fine-tooth comb? Which ones must be thrown out completely?
Some of you may be asking: Why wade through the weeds to tell others vulnerable, personal stories? What is the point? Why put grief and trauma and healing and love into the world for others to see?
What I always come back to is this: It is always worth it to show even one other person what it is to be seen and understood. It is always worth it to offer up your own story as a token of compassion and healing. It is always worth it to help someone feel a little more free. And often, telling the truth frees the one who tells it.
I hope you feel resonance, here. I hope you find comfort through the stories I share.
I’m so glad you’re here.
